As my mind stared to wander, I have come across these thoughts. It all started with a simple question. Questions that people normally ask normal people.

Since I think you are a normal person, :) I am going to ask you couple of questions.
Think of a movie that you like.

Q: Do you like it?
A: Yes

Q:How much do you like it?
A: I like it a lot

Q: On a scale of 0 to 9, how much do you like it?
A: hmm... 7? 8? donno

"Like" is a feeling. Can all feelings be quantified? Never thought about it before.So,Let's see.

Someone says I like chicken, I don't like mutter, I like obama, I don't like bush". If you assign numbers to it, like(1) dontlike(0) , they will tranlsate into chicken(1), mutter(0), obama(1), bush(0). Its easy to express in binary system. Now if we extend this 0,1 to 0,9 ( a decimal system), let's see how the conversion happens.

Do you like chicken? Yes. How much on a scale of 0 to 9. hmmm 8
Do you like obama? Yes. How much on a scale of 0 to 9. hmmm 6

What was 1 in binary system translated into two different numbers in decimal system 6 and 8. So remember, no two "likes" are the same. :)

If we extend this quantification to other feelings like "happy" "sad" "anger" "hate" and finally "love". Can they be quantified as well? Its hard but I guess you definitely can.

Quantification is just another form of expression. People are not used to it because not all people like numbers.

As the world turns into more digital, more and more things are being quantified. There are even websites that can quantify the compatibility level between you and another person. No kidding.

Think about someone you really love a lot? On a scale of 0 to 9, think about how much you love them and keep the answer to yourself. Some things are better left unsaid:)

Finally, feel free to quantify this entry on a scale of 0 to 9 ( 9 - very good entry 0- what a piece of crap) :)
